The Client Compatibility Test
Want to work with us? We’ve identified some qualities found in our most successful client relationships. If this sounds like you, drop us a line.
Our DOPEST clients...
...are genuinely good people.
We’ve got a no a-hole policy for both employees and clients. We don't hire them or partner with them. We've made that mistake in the past and it hasn't ended well. For anyone. In fact, the values we use to hire Mindspacers are the same values we look for in clientsl.
…value value.
Our clients refuse to settle for gas station sushi. Or Temu heart valves. They understand that we’re unlikely to be the least expensive option, but know we’ll provide the richest return on their investment. That, and knowing that they won't be up all night, puking their brains out because of the "sushi" they ate, or from the stress of choosing the wrong partner.
…respect our process.
Our best clients are familiar with — and understand — the Mindspace Process. When clients have come to us with a challenge they want us to solve, they understand we follow our proven process to ensure that their trust is rewarded with our best work. That includes the time dedicated to strategy or discovery before we begin the creative work. It’s where we dig deep into research and ensure we have the best possible solution for a project.
…aren’t afraid to &*$% sh*t up.
We wouldn't be the company we are today by being risk-averse. Sometimes that means crawling out on the proverbial limb — then shaking it — just to see what happens.
Our best clients give our more "unique" ideas a chance, since they’re based on a mix of creative insanity and solid strategic insights. Since creativity is all about innovation and iteration, oftentimes the best ideas exist after riffing off the weird ones first. Our clients know this and strive to be innovative, forward-thinking, and eager to rock the proverbial corporate boat.
…are decisive.
Our best clients come to us with solid objectives and goals, know when they need stuff done, and are clear in their feedback. It helps everyone work more efficiently without having to make assumptions or waste time trying to guess what’s in their head.
…check their baggage at the virtual front door.
We’re not your previous agency. You’re not our previous client. And mistrust and micromanagement is the killer of productivity and creativity.
Unless one of us does something to break trust, we assume that if the papers are signed, you’ve given us a corporate colonoscopy (not the literal, fun kind) — by doing research, vetting us, understanding our process and therefore trusting us to get things done. We want to focus on doing great work—not worrying that we’re not, or spending most of our time focused on explaining or worse yet, changing our process every step of the way. That said, our clients…
...understand that we’re super humans–not superhuman.
We’re obsessively focused on being a great partner and producing great work that delivers results. And while we're super humans, sometimes we make mistakes. When we do, we 100% own our sh*t, learn from them, and will always try to mitigate them from happening again — as much as is super-humanly possible.
…share our love of aggressive lower back hair.
We’re a little different. Our best clients love us for it. For example, the combination of a pantsless remote-first agency structure and the fact that almost every Mindspacer has a fur-based pet means that at some point in our relationship, our clients have experienced a Zoom meeting or five that’s been interrupted by a bark, meow, moo — or furball* making an occasional on-screen appearance.
*Wait. Did you think we were talking about our CEO?
