About Us

We’re high-functioning dopamine junkies dedicated to ending the epidemic of <>experiences.

what we are:
A boutique creative agency made up of a collaborative of smart, creative dopamine junkies whose shrinking attention spans were triggered by an epidemic of less-than-engaging learning and marketing experiences.
what we're not:
“pioneers”
“visionaries”
“creators”
“storytellers”
“influencers”
or even “mom’s favorite child”

We’re collectively dedicated to ending that epidemic by leveraging our 23+ year history in brand development, marketing and advertising, learning science, and advanced gamification. When we apply this expertise to consumer and employee engagement, the results are attention-grabbing, dopamine-producing experiences that produce amazing results. Really.

the values we value.

Our Values
We get it. Every company has values. But you’re not going to find hollow ones like “integrity,” “honesty,” and “quality,” here. We think those types of values are the basic expectations for any company. We look for more than a word on paper that has no impact on how we work with each other.
Instead, we’ve developed a set of actionable values that we can hire to, fire to, and celebrate when we see them lived out. Every Mindspacer lives these values—and we see our best clients exhibiting them as well.
01

The Way We THINK

There are no passenger seats.

Get in and drive. Grab problems by the cojones. Take action, speak up and have a point of view. When things are unclear (as they often can be), don’t wallow in ambiguity. Raise your hand. Ask questions. And work to bring things into focus.

02

The Way We ACT

The Golden Rule is the only rule.

Look out for #1. And #2...and #3...  Your actions affect those around you, so be a source of positive energy — assume the best in others while giving trust and respect. Just like, be a super human.

03

The Way We Live

Explore as a lifestyle.

Be insatiably curious. Always be learning, look for life’s Ah-Ha Moments–on both a personal and professional level. Try crazy, new sh*t. And don’t be afraid to fail, provided you’re dedicated to learning something valuable in the process. No one is perfect (except James Van Der Beek) so play to your strengths, but always strengthen your weaknesses.

04

The Way We WORK

Stay on the AA wagon.

Not that wagon. The Attitude of Additive wagon. Always find ways to improve what you’ve been given from clients and your team. Don’t let strategy, creativity, or quality lose momentum while you contribute to projects. Be transparent, fearless, and work collaboratively with everyone like you need them. Because you do.

About You

Trusted by some of the most innovative brands in the world.

Ahh, the gratuitous "impressive client logos" section of the site.

While we've achieved the dream of working with some of the most influential, forward-thinking brands in the world over the course of the past 23+ years, what's made our work for them successful is respectful, and mutually-beneficial relationships with the great individuals working for those brands.

We get there by being as selective* about the companies people we work with as much as we are about the people we hire to work at Mindspace.

*Ridiculously selective. Check out our Client Compatibility Page to see if we're a potential match.

What the FAQ?

Still got questions? We (might) have the answers.

Some serious. Some fun. But most pretty FAQ’ing important.

What makes Mindspace different from a typical creative agency?

Our modeling agency agency model is unique. We’re not your traditional creative agency. (You know, with extravagant accouterments and perks like “walls,” offices with “doors,” unisex selfie rooms (or “bathrooms,” as some say), a full-time omelet chef or a rooftop swimming pool.)

Instead, we’re a remote-first agency focused on the good stuff: Curating the right teams to create badass work. We’ve got a global network of experienced project managers, creatives, content strategists, developers, animators, photographers, illustrators and producers so that our clients get the best talent for their specific project and for our specific recommended solutions.

Do you have experience in my industry/line of business?

So far, we’ve worked across a pretty wide range of industries (from healthcare, to retail, to tech and more) to create an even wider range of deliverables. Chances are, we’ve done something similar to what you’re looking for—and if we don’t have an exact match, we're confident that we have the chops to make something great happen. We’d love to learn more about you either way!

How much will it cost?

This will depend on the specific needs of your project, the complexity of deliverables and other factors. The best bet is to drop us a line so we can start looking at your specific budget and what you’re hoping to achieve.

How long do engagements last?

It will depend on your specific project, but on average, engagements tend to last anywhere from 8-24 weeks.

What is Advanced Gamification?

You may associate gamification with points, badges, and leaderboards (PBLs)—but at Mindspace, we go beyond that and look at gamification as an overall strategy for engagement. By using over 100 game mechanics (that don’t always need PBLs) we find creative ways to boost retention and connection to whatever content we’re working on. You can learn more about our gamification approach in addition to our other areas of expertise here.

Was your CEO really Amish?

Yup. Complete with exceptional butter-churning and cow-tipping skills. Prior to starting Mindspace, he founded a failed online dating service, AmishOnly.com.

I know what my goals are, but not how to achieve them. Can you help?

Yep! If you are still in the ideation phase of an initiative, we can assist with brainstorming or a more-focused consultative engagement for your project. These situations are often where we will collaborate to come up with recommended strategic solutions to achieve your goals. From there, you can decide if you want to execute on any of our recommendations in a new project together.

What makes a great client fit for Mindspace?

We try to follow a no a**hole policy. The values we use to hire Mindspacers are often representative of the types of individuals we work with as well. Besides that, there are a few other qualities that we tend to find in our best client relationships.

Is cereal soup?

Why stop there? What about the sandwich-salad-soup theory? Anything you eat can be one of the three. Perhaps that makes cereal soup – but would a bread bowl be a sandwich?

How do your billing and payment schedules work?

Payment terms for projects 60 days or less: 50% (NET10) upon SOW execution, 50% (NET30) after 30 days

Payment terms for projects over 60 days: 50% (NET10) upon SOW execution, 25% (NET30) after 30 days, 25% (NET30) after 60 days

How much input will we have during the project?

Although we understand you’ve hired us for our expertise, we treat every engagement as a collaborative and iterative project. We'll be looking for specific input to help us get up to speed on your expectations, your brand/company culture and anything else that may be relevant for our work. As we go, we’ll continue to look for your timely and specific feedback to ensure we are on the right path.

What’s your process? What if we want you to follow ours?

We’ve spent over two decades perfecting an internal creative process that we stick to as much as possible. Because we know it works.

If we’ve begun an engagement, it is with the assumption that clients understand the previously identified phases in our creative process, and that each is important to deliver the best possible solutions.

That being said, there may be some pieces outside of the overall process “phases” that we understand need to fit in with your own organization (e.g., timeline format, other templates). Those may have more flexibility.

Is strategy required?

Abraham Lincoln famously once said, “Give me 12 weeks to create an amazing digital experience, and I’ll spend the first 5 weeks in front of the virtual whiteboard”. Or something like that. But we agree. Strategy is a key phase of the Mindspace Process. Some engagements may need less time on this front, but it is still considered no matter what the project.

I have an unlimited budget and no real deadline. What should I do?

On its face, you seem like a dream client. We admit, we're skeptical. But if that’s true, there may be some options for a retainer situation in return for creative services. Let’s chat about it.

My budget is pretty small, but my dreams are big. Can we still work together?

Of course everyone wants the most for their money, but our partners understand that we are't a 501(c)(3).

Chances are, we're not going to be your least expensive choice. But, our best clients never try to nickel-and-dime us—they know and believe that we’re worth every penny, and that we will always work to creatively stretch a budget as far as it’ll go—while delivering the best solutions to achieve our goals, respect the scope of work and fit within the project timeline.

That said, although we’ll creatively try to work within budgets, there may be a minimum amount required depending on the complexity of your project. Let us know where you are starting from and we can see what’s possible.

Can you send me some examples of strategy or creative work that’s not on your website?

We honor the privacy of our clients along with the integrity of our own work by not showing every piece in detail that we’ve created. That said, there may be some more high-level examples and/or information we can give in a separate conversation outside of what you see on the website. (But we still invite you to check out our Case Studies if you haven’t already).
